AP 3D provides an environment for the dedicated art student to create a college-level, 3 dimensional, sculptural portfolio, or a “body of work” that shows quality, concentration, and depth. This portfolio is intended to address three-dimensional design issues. For this portfolio, students are asked to demonstrate mastery of 3-D design through any 3 dimensional medium or process. While the goal of the course is for each student to develop an individualized concentration in 3-D design, the ultimate goal is to submit a portfolio to the College Board for review and advanced placement and/or college credit at many colleges and universities. For the Breadth section, you will be guided in your projects to learn a variety of different techniques in clay, wire, plaster, and mixed media. In the Concentration section you will explore an idea and a media of your choice to create a series that follows a theme.
